Grayson has had a couple of entertaining quotes lately so I thought I'd share before I forget them.
When I picked him up from school yesterday, he had come in from playing outside in the 100+ degree heat. I asked if he was hot and he said, "I'm sweaty. My hair is sweaty. Even my bones are sweaty!" I believe it with the weather we've been having.
Lately, Gray has been asking a lot of questions about what happens when you die. I've explained it several ways and also talked about leaving Earth and going to live with Jesus in heaven. Gray echoed the story back to me with a slight variation: "Mama, when you die you go to live in heaven with Jesus and they kick you off of Earth." Hmm, not exactly how I had described it.

Destination: Wedding
We just returned home from celebrating the wedding of Blake and Tara (Michael's cousin) in Galveston, Texas. The weekend went by WAY too fast, but we had so much fun being a part of the couple's big day.
It all started with a lovely rehearsal dinner on Friday night. Gray enjoyed his first four-course meal and managed to use most of the silverware properly. I was proud that he ate so well and sat still through all of the toasts (even though it was considerably past his bedtime). He couldn't get enough of the guitarist/singer who was playing during dinner. I definitely think our boy has an aptitude for music.
Here's a shot of us with Nana and Popper at the end of the evening.
The next day we had time to enjoy the beach, which Gray tolerated for about 30 minutes before we relocated to the hotel swimming pool.
Miss Beach Baby Rhyann also joined in the fun:
Saturday evening after a lovely ceremony in a packed, historic Galveston church, we made our way to the convention center for dinner and dancing. It was such a fun evening with our family and Gray enjoyed dancing with me, Nana and Michael's cousin Lindy. He's got some serious white boy moves, but was enthusiastic nonetheless. Here are a few shots from the reception:

A group shot of the cousins/spouses on Michael's mom's side of the family. Our time is never quite long enough with this gang!
I wanted to get a shot of the next generation of cousins but I never thought of it when Rhyann's big brother Blayne was around. That said, this one was pretty cute!

Father's Day on the lake
We spent Father's Day weekend at one of our favorite places, Lake Tenkiller. Despite our last camping adventure, we decided to brave sleeping in a tent again and had a great time (no 60 mph winds helped!).
My dad was in town from Mississippi and Amy, Ben and Holt joined us for the weekend. Roxy even enjoyed the fresh air, plus her favorite pastime of jumping off the back of the boat.
I couldn't think of a better way to relax and celebrate Father's Day.

Friends for life
Last week we enjoyed a visit from three generations of childhood friends. My dad's childhood friend Steve and his wife Nancy came to see us from Colorado Springs. My sister and I grew up spending many a summer vacation or trip to Six Flags with their three children and now the third generation got to play together.
Grayson and Holten played with Zak and his little brother Lukis. It was so much fun catching up with our friends and watching the boys bond. Of course, I realized after they were gone that I didn't get a picture of anyone but the kiddos. Isn't that always how it works?

Sharing his sunshine
Grayson loves for us to sing to him and one of his favorite songs is You are my sunshine. Tonight we had an impromptu play date with Cora and Claire, and I walked in to find Gray entertaining Claire by singing her his favorite song.
He had just come in from swimming and had the shivers, but it was still pretty clear and so adorable. She seemed to be enjoying his company and his song. I just wish I was able to capture more of it on camera.

Our little reader
Gray really wants to be a reader, but he just isn't quite there yet. That doesn't stop him from "reading" to us out loud. Last night, I was quick enough with my camera to catch him in reading mode. Here's his rendition of a story about outer space.

All Aboard!
This weekend, Grandmama and Grandaddy kept Grayson overnight and took the opportunity to visit a local train club. They open to the public once a month and have complete 1/6 scale trains that you can ride around the mini-town. Amy and Holten met up with them and the two boys had SO much fun.
When Gray got home I asked him what he enjoyed the most. He said the tunnel and the picnic (I swear if you let this boy eat outdoors he's instantly happy). They were able to take eight rides throughout the afternoon.
Here are a few shots from their special day:
