We're getting his 6 month pictures taken in two weeks and I'm willing to try anything to get his face scratch-free by then. We've tried putting mittens or socks over his hands, but that only works for a little while and then they get soaked from him trying to stick them in his mouth. It's not really a problem during the day when we're watching him, but I don't trust him to have them on at night (and most of the scratching occurs when he's tired and rubbing his face).
So, this is the part where you write in with all kinds of brilliant suggestions and I am eternally grateful.

If he does get a scratch, I'm sure your husband can do a little spot fix in photoshop...clearly this is coming from someone who has no idea how to help. :) I can't believe he is almost six months old!
I would go weeks with out scratches and as soon as it was time to take pictures i would do something. Same thing with blayne it is just how it goes. Think of it as character.

They sell them at Walgreens or Bed Bath and Beyond. While there, you could pick up a Snuggie for Mike:
